Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has called for unity across political parties to support the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the proposed Women’s Reservation Law. His appeal comes ahead of the upcoming special session of Parliament scheduled to begin on April 16. Emphasizing the importance of the legislation, Sawant described it as a defining moment in India’s democratic journey and a significant step toward inclusive governance.
He urged leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties, along with Members of Parliament, to rise above political differences and work together to ensure the bill’s success. According to him, enhancing women’s representation in legislative bodies is essential for achieving true gender equality and balanced decision-making.
Sawant further highlighted that empowering women in governance would not only strengthen democratic institutions but also contribute to overall socio-economic development. Stressing that the issue goes beyond party lines, he called for a constructive and united approach to guarantee the effective implementation of the landmark law and to fulfill a long-standing national commitment toward women’s empowerment.
