The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has launched an inquiry into Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder for a potential breach of Indian Premier League (IPL) dugout protocols. The issue arose after Bhinder was seen using a mobile phone in the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) during a match on April 10, while seated next to Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Under IPL regulations, while certain officials such as team managers and doctors are permitted to carry mobile devices, their usage remains strictly controlled within designated areas. The incident quickly gained attention after visuals circulated online.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the board is reviewing the footage to determine whether any rules were violated. He clarified that carrying a mobile phone is not prohibited for managers, but its usage must comply with league protocols.
The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) is closely monitoring the situation. If any breach is confirmed, appropriate action will be taken following a detailed assessment.
