CM Pramod Sawant Urges Citizens to Stop Dumping Garbage in Plastic Bags

Pramod Sawant has called on citizens to stop disposing of garbage in plastic bags, stressing the need for responsible waste management across Goa. The appeal came during the inauguration of a 10 TPD gasification-based waste treatment plant, a step aimed at strengthening the state’s waste processing capacity.

Highlighting the environmental impact of improper disposal, the Chief Minister urged people to cooperate with existing waste management systems and adopt cleaner practices. He emphasised that public participation is key to ensuring long-term success in keeping Goa clean.

The government, he noted, has already invested nearly ₹1000 crore under the “Clean Goa” initiative to improve infrastructure and promote sustainable waste solutions. Authorities hope that with better facilities and increased awareness, citizens will play an active role in reducing plastic waste and maintaining a cleaner environment.
