An overflowing sewage chamber near the Fisheries Department road in Colva has triggered concern among local residents after dirty water reportedly began flowing into nearby fields.
Speaking to the media, Simao Rodrigues said such incidents create a negative impression on tourists visiting Goa. He stated that visitors come to the state to experience its beauty and cleanliness, but sewage overflow and unhygienic conditions harm Goa’s image as a tourism destination.
Rodrigues also warned that if such conditions are already visible before the onset of the monsoon, the situation could worsen significantly during heavy rainfall.
He urged the concerned authorities to take immediate corrective action to address the overflowing sewage issue before the monsoon arrives, in order to prevent further pollution and inconvenience to both locals and tourists.
Residents have appealed for urgent intervention, citing environmental and public health concerns in the area.
