Former Kerala Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan has launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of adopting political positions that indirectly benefit the BJP instead of strengthening the INDIA bloc. Speaking in Kozhikode on Saturday, Vijayan was responding to remarks made by Rahul Gandhi during a recent INDIA alliance meeting.Rahul had reportedly stated that while political differences within the alliance could be managed, he could not embrace Vijayan due to their ongoing political rivalry in Kerala.
Reacting to the comments, Vijayan said the current challenges facing the opposition alliance stem from Rahul’s political approach. He pointed out that leaders such as Tejashwi Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav had also expressed reservations over the Congress party’s stance.According to Vijayan, Rahul’s actions were weakening opposition unity and creating divisions among alliance partners.

He further remarked that he does not have a habit of hugging political leaders and usually greets people with a handshake or folded hands. Referring to Rahul’s public interactions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vijayan said he had no objection to such gestures but questioned the message conveyed by Rahul’s comments.The veteran CPI(M) leader also criticised the Kerala government’s handling of the recent Nipah virus case in Kozhikode, alleging lapses in containment measures and a lack of urgency from the Health Department. He additionally questioned the appointment of K.B. Pradeep as Devaswom Special Government Pleader, saying the circumstances surrounding the appointment raised concerns.
