Panjim, June 22: A delegation of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, led by its President Adv. Archit Naik, met the Director General of Police (DGP) on Sunday to express concerns over the alleged custodial assault of youths in the Maina-Curtorim case and the recent youth suicide case in Mapusa.
The delegation included Adv. Amit Palekar, Samil Volvoikar, Dr. Pratiksha Khalap, President of the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress, Moreno Rebello, Chirag Naik, Naushad Chowdhary, and Mahesh Mhambrey.

During the meeting, the delegation called for fair, transparent, and time-bound investigations into both incidents. In the Maina-Curtorim case, members urged police authorities to take strict action against those responsible for the alleged assault and to ensure accountability in connection with claims of custodial violence involving several youths, including a minor.
The delegation also sought a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Mapusa youth suicide case, requesting that all possible angles be examined to ensure justice for the deceased and support for the family.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Youth Congress leaders reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the rights of young people and ensuring that justice is delivered without bias or delay. They stressed that transparency, accountability, and prompt action are essential to maintaining public confidence in the law enforcement system.
The delegation expressed hope that the authorities would take appropriate steps to address the concerns raised and ensure a fair outcome in both cases.
