India batting star Virat Kohli is set to make his return to international cricket in the upcoming ODI series against England, marking his first appearance since the New Zealand series earlier this year. The three-match contest begins on July 14, with India holding an intensive training session at Edgbaston ahead of the opening fixture.According to The Times of India, Kohli spent nearly 30 minutes in an animated discussion with ODI captain Shubman Gill during Saturday’s two-hour practice session. The former skipper was seen sharing valuable batting insights, discussing shot selection, game plans, and methods to counter England’s bowling attack. Kohli also demonstrated several strokes in the nets, giving Gill a closer look at his approach.The experienced batter has an outstanding ODI record in England. Across 33 matches in the country, Kohli has scored 1,349 runs at an impressive average of 51.88, including one century and 12 half-centuries. He is also approaching another major milestone, needing fewer than 200 runs to reach 16,000 ODI runs.For Gill, the series marks another significant chapter in his career. It will be his first ODI assignment in England and his maiden overseas series as India’s ODI captain. Although he has faced England only four times in ODIs, all of those matches came in India, where he accumulated 268 runs at an average of 67. His previous outing against England featured a superb 112 off 102 balls.India’s practice session also featured Rohit Sharma spending considerable time in the nets. Pace spearheads Jasprit Bumrah and Gurnoor Brar generated sharp bounce with their deliveries, while Kuldeep Yadav had an extended bowling spell. Local spinners were also brought in to help Indian batters adapt to English conditions. Fielding coach T Dilip, spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutale and throwdown specialist Dayasagar closely supervised the preparations as India geared up for the opening ODI.
