Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Thursday described the verdict in the Tarun Tejpal case as a “victory for truth,” stating that no woman should ever have to endure such injustice.
Sawant said the Goa government remained committed to pursuing the case over the past 13 years, ensuring that the legal process reached its conclusion.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Goa Police and the Directorate of Prosecution for their sustained efforts in investigating and prosecuting the case. He credited both agencies for their persistence in pursuing justice.
He also commended the survivor for her courage and resilience, noting that she stood by the case throughout the prolonged legal battle.
Stating that the survivor deserved justice, Sawant said the verdict reinforces the importance of perseverance in the pursuit of justice and sends a strong message that such cases must be pursued with commitment and sensitivity.
