PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said the government has decided to chalk out a plan with the help of NGOs to curtail the number of road accidents by 50 percent.
“I expect that during the coming year, action would be taken reducing road accidents and deaths to 150,” Parrikar said while addressing the gathering on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day
“The target is to make zero accidents and deaths on the road but that it impractical so the aim is to reduce the number by half. We have found out that the reason is no driving discipline and licences are given freely, second is that there is lack in road engineering and third is because penalties imposed on traffic violations don’t act as a deterrent,” he said.
