According to Vasco Police Sub Inspector Nikhil Palekar, the autopsy on the body of Barad was conducted on Friday morning and was later handed over to family members for final rites, which took place in the evening.
“The autopsy on the body of Pandey was performed in the evening and the body has been preserved at the GMC morgue in Bambolim. The autopsy report states that Pandey and Barad died six hours after consuming their dinner on Wednesday night,” Palekar said.
“The autopsy report also stated that both deaths were caused by bullet wounds, which were fired from a country-made revolver, which was found at the scene of offence. All this suggests that Pandey and Barad had their dinner together,” said the police.
Palekar said that Pandey’s uncle had arrived in the state, on hearing the news of his nephew’s death.
When asked if the police had recorded the statements of the two families, Palekar replied, “The investigation is in the preliminary stage and we are yet to record the statements of family members of Barad and Pandey.”
