While the trio hailing from Nacorda-Carvota in Loutolim headed to the Borim bridge, they were saved by two alert local residents, both residents of Vanxem-Loutolim.
Gundu, one of the locals, informed that they were at a bar at Vanxem, on the Loutolim-Borim road, when at 3.15 pm the lady came to the restaurant and asked for water and was seen forcing her son to drink. Gundu said he found something strange about the lady and went she started walking towards the Borim bridge with her two children, he decided to follow her. He was joined by a friend of his named Seby.
When they stopped her, she told them she was going to commit suicide along with her children fed up with the harassment meted out by her husband.
All the three were then taken to the house of Seby where the police were called. They were referred for medical examination at Hospicio Hospital, Margao.
PI Harish Madkaikar said help of an NGO is being taken to counsel the couple.
