VASCO: Councillor of Ward 23 New Vaddem Shridhar Mardolkar, raising concern over detection of three Malaria cases recently, has demanded for fogging to control the increase of mosquitoes menace.
On Tuesday evening, Mardolkar met newly appointed Chief Officer Santosh Kundaikar and brought to his notice that some people residing in Beverly Hills are dumping waste outside the garbage bins. This, he pointed out, mixes with the water and overflows from the drainage and spills on to the road.

“The garbage waste at the black spots has caused great inconvenience to the people residing in that area,” said Mardolkar.
He also mentioned that he had written a letter to the Chief Officer on October 30, asking loan him a fogging machine for few days so that he could conduct fogging to stop the mosquitoes from breeding.
“But till date no fogging has taken place, nor a machine given to us,” Mardolkar added.
Later, speaking to the Herald, Mardolkar revealed that there were three Malaria cases detected in his ward which, he said, is most likely due to the unhygienic and overflowing garbage in the vicinity.
“One person was also admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim recently suffering from Malaria. Therefore, there is an urgent need of fogging to stop mosquitoes from breeding,” he added.
“I contacted the Urban Health Centre doctors who assured me to look into the matter immediately,” he added.
