PANJIM: Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik announced that the AYUSH wellness centre, including yoga and naturopathy at Dhargal, will be completed in the next two years. The Rs 1000-odd crore project will comprise a 100-bed hospital, naturopathy and yoga research centre, and hostel.
“Goa is a tourism hub and foreigners are inclined towards yoga. Almost every country has adopted yoga. The institute will boost tourism as one gets cured without any medication. Goa should also be a health hub. We expect to complete the centre within two years,” Naik told the media after a meeting with local karyakartas on Saturday.
The Union minister had earlier revealed that around 50 acres of land had been acquired for the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Dhargal.
In the first phase, Rs 500 crore will be spent on hospital and research centre, while another Rs 500 cr will be spent on the hostel and specific centre facilities will be covered in the second phase. It is learnt that 80 per cent of the jobs in the institute will be reserved for locals while 20 per cent for professionals linked to the institute.
