PONDA: South Goa MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar has urged Ponda residents not to oppose the installation of CCTVs, which he said, is for their safety.
He stated the CCTVs were a long-pending demand of the locals, but there were instances of people opposing the same.
Sawaikar was speaking at the launch of a CCTV surveillance system for Ponda town at the municipality on Thursday. He stated that 22 CCTVs have been installed at strategic locations in the town to monitor traffic and curb illegal activities. More would be installed if the need arises, Sawaikar said.
He urged the locals to co-operate with the authorities on the CCTVs, which, he said, should also be protected from antisocial elements.
