VASCO: Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar has warned Aam Admi Party’s (AAP) Cortalim Candidate Olencio Simoes for suggesting bifurcation of Zuarinagar from Sancoale Panchayat.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting at Upasnagar in Sancoale on Saturday, Borkar said that AAP leaders have been misleading the people by speaking about bifurcation of Zuarinagar from Sancoale. He said that the issue of bifurcation of Quelossim from Cortalim panchayat is totally different and AAP leaders should not talk about the bifurcation of Sancoale as the villagers are peace loving and never sought any division of the panchayat like others.
“The issue of bifurcation of Quelossim from Cortalim is a demand made by Quelossim villagers as well as Cortalim villagers, whereas the people of Zuarinagar slums have not made any such demands and by raising such topic of bifurcation. AAP leaders have been unnecessarily creating confusion and are trying to disturb the peace and tranquility in Sancoale. I therefore warn all such leaders to refrain from making such comments to take undue advantage in the forthcoming assembly polls,” he said.
Lashing out at Art and Culture Minister Dayanand Mandrekar for his recent comment on the pending work of Kala Bhawan in Upasnagar, wherein Mandrekar had blamed GSIDC for not completing the work, Borkar said, “The Sancoale Panchayat handed over a vast piece of land to the State government, in good faith, for the construction of Kala Bhawan. However, to cover up the government failure in completing the project, leaders have been playing blame game, without making efforts to complete the project.”
“Now since the project has become a white elephant, we demand that the government should scrap the project and handover the same to the panchayat. We also demand that government should either convert the Kala Bhawan project building into hospital or some indoor stadium. If the project is left in present condition, then, miscreants would damage the building at regular intervals and public money would go in drains,” he warned.
On the occasion, Borkar disclosed that he would contest forthcoming assembly polls from Cortalim constituency. He claimed that the present MLA failed to give employment to the locals and could not take up developmental works.
