MARGAO: Suspension of a South Goa Collectorate staff by the district Collector N D Agrawal on Tuesday kicked up a row in the Collectorate, with the suspension order brewing resentment amongst the Collectorate employees.
The suspension order, however, was revoked by the Collector on Wednesday evening following intervention by Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado and protests by the employees.
Collectorate employees were seen outside the Collectorate building this evening to express solidarity with the suspended employee as there was a delay to issue to revocation order.
The Fisheries Minister called up Herald this evening to inform that the suspension of the Collectorate staff has been finally revoked by the Collector. Avertano was invited by the Collectorate employees on Tuesday after Agrawal served the suspension order on the employee. The order had stirred a hornet’s nest as it did not cite any reason for placing the employee under suspension.
Avertano said he had spoken to the district Collector from the Collectorate itself to revoke the suspension order after he was convinced that the situation did not warrant suspension.
When contacted, Agrawal told Herald that he has already revoked the suspension order served on the employee. When asked to reply to allegation that he did not cite any reason for placing the employee under suspension, Agrawal said he is guided by the rules in force.
Asked whether he has revoked the suspension order following the intervention by the Fisheries Minister, the district Collector said the decision was purely an administrative matter.
