PANJIM: the In absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the three-member Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC) will meet every Wednesday if there are enough issues, Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza said.
Even though a formal notification on the appointment of the CAC was not issued till the time of going to press, D’Souza said the three ministers had an informal meeting.
“We discussed basically on when to have meeting and important other issues. Till now we haven’t got any orders to work,” the minister said.
He stated that Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma returned from New Delhi Wednesday evening and an order on the appointment of CAC is expected Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
“Each minister will be given financial powers to clear files up to Rs 1 crore while the Cabinet Advisory Committee will look into files from Rs 1 crore and above to Rs 5 cr,” he said adding, “These files would earlier go to the Chief Minister for financial sanctions”.
D’Souza stated that the CAC consists of himself, PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai.
Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma when contacted said the General Standing Order on delegation of Finance Minister’s powers to the ministers and CAC will be issued Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
