PANJIM: LIC celebrated their 57th anniversary at EDC Complex, Patto, Panjim. North Goa MP Shripad Naik was the chief guest.
On September 1, LIC started the insurance week all over India. LIC was nationalized on September 1, 1956 among nearly 245 different companies by the Finance Minister and late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
LIC has 83.24% of market share and Goa with 14 lakh population has 11.15 lakh LIC policies in force.
In Goa they have 11 branch offices, three satellite officers. Investment in government social sector is also increasing.
Naik said that the more the LIC work progresses the more the country will develop. At the anniversary celebrations, a small cultural function was held at the start to entertain the people. The winners of various competitions and activities were awarded by MP Naik.
