PERNEM: With the monsoon wreaking havoc, the construction work of national highway at Malpe, Pernem is underway on a war-footing. However, landslides continued to occur on the fourth day. The stones continued to fall even as a safety wall is being erected.
Since the work of the bypass is ongoing, the traffic has been diverted from the old highway. However, the route at Malpe junction is still dangerous for the motorists.

Bypass road was supposed to be opened for the public after building the safety wall where a landslide has occured. However, the landslide will cause further delay in opening this road for traffic.
Meanwhile, the work of national highway from Patradevi to Dhargal is also in progress and the condition of service roads at Poraskade, Malpe and Tambose has gone bad, thanks to the emergence of potholes. The concrete near the flyover at Dhargal is caving in, which is posing a risk to the gutter. To make matters worse, small landslides are also occurring at Mahakhajan-Dhargal and if this road gets blocked then it will badly impact the locals.
