RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club scrapped past Wilred Leisure Sports Club of Curtorim 3-2 via tie-breaker to emerge champions in the 18th Guirdolim Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Guirdolim SC at the Chandor Church ground, on Sunday.
Both teams failed to score at the end of regulation time. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Stalen Oliveira, Daryl Costa and Aryan Carvalho scored for Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club, while Fredy Hilario and Ryan Fernandes were on target for Wilred Leisure Sports Club.
The winners, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club were richer by Rs 60,000 plus trophy, while Wilred Leisure Sports Club had to be content with Rs 40,000 plus trophy.
Leader of Opposition and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Jean Da Cruz Fernandes, Fr Eremito Rebello, Chandor Club President Egidio D’Costa, Goa Football Association Senior Vice-President
