PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will leave for the US in the wee hours of Wednesday for further medical treatment, a day after undergoing comprehensive medical check-up at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai.
Sources informed Herald that he will board the flight for US at around 1.30 am. He will be away for at least six weeks.
Parrikar, suffering from pancreatitis aliment was on Monday evening shifted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai as a part of his treatment, hours after he took marathon meeting of ministers, legislators, bureaucrats and Panjim BJP Mandal. He was accompanied by his elder son Utpal and other family members.
Before leaving for Mumbai, Parrikar, in a video message had said, “For more recovery and as first round of treatment, I am going to Mumbai. And for complete recovery from the ailment, if doctors advise, then I may even travel out of India for treatment and get full treatment. During this period also, I want your (people) full blessings.” He also thanked people for their blessings and prayers for his good health.
Parrikar was admitted to Lilavati hospital on February 15, after he initially complained of stomach pain and took treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim. He returned to Goa on February 22 and on the very same day also tabled the State Budget 2018-19 before the Goa Legislative Assembly. He was admitted to GMC on February 25 for dehydration and low blood pressure and was discharged on March 1.
