2013 saw a tough competition between the
two headlining EDM festivals of Goa and the newly formed rivalry and eagerness
to outshine the other, was palpable. Nikhil Chinapa who had conceptualised and
helped create brand Sunburn parted ways with his supposed brainchild in 2013
and through his brand label Submerge collaborated with Live Viacom18 and
introduced VH1 Supersonic. Chinapa was able to carry out the event successfully
as thousands joined in to get a taste of the new festival, which turned out to
be quite a success.
Come 2014, both the festivals are all set
to return to the shores of Goa – VH1 Supersonic at Candolim and Sunburn in
Vagator and both have started their preparations to emerge triumphant. The
early bird tickets for Sunburn went live on July 2, 2014 at 12 pm sharp and
went on for the whole day.Within few hours, the early bird tickets were sold
out as partygoers reserved their tickets to avoid the last minute chaos. While
Sunburn’s early bird window were sold off within a day, tickets for Supersonic
festival are still up for grabs. VH1 Supersonic will bank on the edge it has on
its competitor – the price difference (almost Rs 3,000) and according to
industry experts, might have the last laugh.
