Where will you be when 2017 comes along?

As the much awaited eve of the New Year inches closer, everyone is always abuzz with plans of much merriment and all that one can possibly do, to bring in another year. Over time, commercial parties have seen their popularity wane in some circles, with many opting to have fun in more private spaces. For others, these parties still rule the roost, and are very much sought after. Café catches up with a young Goa, asking the question that a large part of the state is still mulling over: what does their New Year’s Eve plan hold in store?

Where will you be when 2017 comes along?

I’m going to be attending an event called Project Countdown. It is a EDM party, at a location called Ceu Mar, with Goa’s biggest names in attendance. Since we have missed our dose of EDM this week, when this party came long, my friends and I thought, ‘why not’? We’ve booked our tickets, and are hoping for a super fun New Year’s Eve.

This year, I plan on bringing in the New Year with a few
close friends, at a house party in Vasco. The house party idea stemmed from the
need to have an intimate event at that time of year; and it’s also recuperation
at play, from the whole festive season.

I have been busy throughout the year and haven’t gotten the
chance to spend enough time with my friends. To ring in the New Year, I plan to
participate in the midnight mass, followed by meeting all my special friends. I
have to make up for the moments and laughter that I missed in 2016.

I will be at Cidade de Goa with my family, this New Year.
It’s actually a work related commitment for my mother, but since it’s the
season for family, the entire lot is accompanying her to the event.

I think that a quiet New Year is on the cards for 2016-17.
My wife and I are heading further south, to Palolem in the evening, to kayak
and watch the last sunset of the year. Following that, we will shack-hop and
celebrate the coming of another year at a place that catches our fancy. We are
doing this to check out something new, and stay away from the traditional
places that we have been visiting all these years. This way, we can have a more
private affair with a few friends, rather than go to the large scale commercial
parties.

So far, I’m not sure of how I will end 2016, as I might be
modelling or emceeing on the day. Last year, I had a fashion show and I decided
to spend time with my family and friends. Earlier, I usually spent New Year’s
Eve partying with my friends. Now my life is more hectic. My plans to ring in
the new year might change even at the last minute.
