Chapora fort beautification recommences

Licence board installed at the site; Siolim BJP Mandal says beautification of Chapora fort is taking place only following the people’s request and not for any personal interests

The beautification work of Chapora fort which was stopped on the instruction of Anjuna Panchayat on December 26 recommenced by the PWD after installing the licence board at the site. 
It may be recalled that the Anjuna Panchayat had stopped the work of the Chapora fort for not obtaining NOCs with the condition that the work could recommence after obtaining permissions.
Commencing the work, the Siolim BJP Mandal president Narayan Mandrekar said, “The beautification of Chapora fort is taking place only following the request of the people and not for any personal interests. There was a need to beautify this fort to attract more tourists. Some people are opposing just for the sake of opposing. The project is legal and licence board for the same has already been put up.” 
The BJP workers burnt an effigies of Independent candidate Savio Almeida, Goa Forward candidate Vinod Palyekar and Goa Suraksha Manch candidate Paresh Raikar at the work site for opposing the beautification.
