Awake oh Goans from your deep slumber. This call goes to each and every Niz Goenkar, irrespective of the political north and south divide, caste, creed, culture and religious belief. Arise because your mother Goa is about to be abducted and gang-raped by those who are in power, to whom you have mandated to administer its well being. Before the elections in 2012 they came to you as lambs and sheep but they were indeed ravenous wolves.
The previous Congress government was in fact the black-sheep of your household. It did not take care to look after you and your children well being. They were egoists and went to satisfy their needs and wants. They brought in all the misery in the form of casinos, the idea of having a redundant airport at Mopa at the cost of destroying lakhs of square meters of biodiversity and environment.
The mining boon for the past decade have raped mother Goa right, left and center till it came to a grinding halt two and a half years ago. There is very little land left available to the future generation. What shall we tell them if they ask where all the land has gone? To make a fast buck the government with its Babus have sold large swathes of land to outsider real estate magnets. To give them any amount of land required, the rules were/are bent with impunity in connivance with the bureaucrats, TCP (Town and Country Planning) and MoEF. But if a Niz Goenkar wants to buy a piece of land, he encounters innumerable obstacles and has to run from pillar to post and invariably to the Babus in power for a final nod.
Anyone found to be an obstacle in pursuing their plan is immediately bypassed by shifting or demoting. Remember my fellow Goans that we voted the present government on their assurance to zero tolerance to corruption, but what we see today is that the absolute majority and power they got, has corrupted the very care takers absolutely. First it was Mr Parrikar as CM had promised to pull out the casinos from the Mandovi within a matter of days. Now that he is shunted at Delhi his colleague Mr Parsekar says that casinos are beneficial as they generate revenue to the Exchequer. Both of them are birds of the same feather and now they want to push Mopa Airport down the throat of Goans. They won’t get away easily and will not succeed in their sinister motive.
With the exodus of the Goan youth for greener pastures in the western world, some driven by the lack of suitable job of their choice, but others of course by the lucrative and strong strength of the Euro, Dollar and Pound. In this game the real losers are the Niz Goenkar, the winners will be those who will be recruited and employed in the soo many projects that are in the pipeline and dear to the hearts of our leaders who are occupying the hot seat in the state. We call them migrants. There will be an influx of them from other neighboring states for whom Goa will be a new Dubai. This is the ulterior motive of the government to reduce the Goans into minority and give a back door entry to their whims and fancies whatever they maybe. So Goa will lose its identity not because of the influx of migrants but due to the exodus of Goans abroad. So once again my fellow Goans Awake and Arise to save your beloved Goa and give a clarion call to the present government that enough is enough, leave our Goa as it is or better still as it was thereby avoiding the D-day that is looming large around it.
