Every one speaks about the tragic deaths and of course the tragic death at Corlim is terrible. But no minister or any authority wants to take the blame on themselves.
The first factor leading to the accident or tragedy is bad roads. You drive from the Mapusa court to district hospital. Just where the road becomes single entry you will see a “Khoddo”. (Square piece of land that has curved in) and further
another “Khoddo”. This is caused because of the digging of sewage pipes. Still further you will find the road not tarred properly and the speed breakers are not visible.
Second factor is over speeding. Speed limit is not put on the road side. There is absence of traffic lights and if present like the court junction they are not fitted properly and done professionally. No one is bothered to rectify the mistake and so it adds to confusion as who is to go first and by the time this is done the lights go red. The third factor is there are no policemen on the road to see to all this. The top people in the police department do not bother to find out where the policemen are and where the crane is. People are bluffed by both the policemen and crane people as they make just two rounds or three rounds a day.
Another factor is the road rules are not followed. People drive any side of the road, overtake on any side. As long as the chief minister and home minister do not find out what is wrong and why it is wrong and find out where the police are and find out why they are not doing the work.
Why shed crocodile tears when no one is bothered to take the blame and bring traffic to order and lastly in Mapusa does anyone bother about the poor pedestrian? Are there any proper foot paths? In Panjim footpaths are used as garages to repair cars or park their vehicles. No one will say anything.
