A woman who accused veteran American entertainer Bill Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her more than five decades ago has been awarded over $19 million following a civil hearing in California.
The survivor, Donna Motsinger, told the court that she was working as a waitress when Cosby allegedly began targeting her. During proceedings held in Santa Monica, it was revealed that the comedian had first encountered her at the restaurant where she was employed.
According to testimony, Motsinger recounted an incident in which Cosby picked her up in his limousine, offering her a glass of wine along with what she believed to be an aspirin. The case formed part of a broader civil claim examining allegations of misconduct dating back several decades.
The jury ultimately ruled in favour of Motsinger, awarding substantial damages in what marks another significant legal development involving the former entertainer.
