Delhi Weather Alert: Rains, Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Disrupt Life; IMD Issues Orange Alert

Overcast skies continued to blanket Delhi on Thursday, with temperatures hovering around 19°C, a day after intense dust storms, thunderstorms, lightning and rainfall brought much-needed relief from rising heat across the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the national capital, warning of continued adverse weather conditions. Intermittent rains accompanied by strong winds have disrupted daily life, affecting traffic movement and causing disturbances in power supply across several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Authorities reported that gusty winds and sudden downpours impacted electricity infrastructure in multiple areas, leading to outages and delays in restoration efforts.

According to the IMD, the current spell of unstable weather is expected to persist until Friday, with further chances of thunderstorms and rainfall likely to keep temperatures relatively lower than usual for this time of year.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious, especially during periods of strong winds and lightning, as weather-related disruptions may continue over the next 24 hours.
