US President Donald Trump has said the ongoing war with Iran could come to an end if Tehran agrees to Washington’s demands, but has also threatened a sharp escalation if talks fail. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that Operation Epic Fury would end if Iran “gives what has been agreed to,” a condition he described as a “big assumption.” He added that, in that case, the US‑led naval blockade would be relaxed, allowing the Strait of Hormuz—a key global oil chokepoint—to be “open to all,” including Iran.
However, Trump warned that if Tehran refuses, bombing would resume at a “much higher level and intensity” than before, underscoring the fragile nature of the current de‑escalation.
