India and Canada have agreed to establish security and law-enforcement liaison officers to strengthen bilateral coordination, following high-level talks between National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and Nathalie Drouin, Deputy Clerk and National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada, in Ottawa.
The decision was taken during the regular bilateral security dialogue held as part of Doval’s two-day visit to Canada, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to build on the existing working relationship and acknowledged progress made on initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and security of citizens in both countries. They also agreed on a shared work plan to guide future cooperation on national security and law-enforcement priorities.
The MEA said that the deployment of liaison officers will help streamline communication channels and enable faster information sharing on matters of mutual concern, including the illegal flow of drugs—especially fentanyl precursors—and the activities of transnational organised criminal networks.
