An LPG tanker en route to India successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday amid heightened tensions in the Middle East due to the ongoing US–Iran tensions, sources confirmed. The vessel reportedly passed through the strategic waterway earlier in the afternoon without any incident.
Sources also indicated that another LPG tanker is expected to set sail for India soon, suggesting that energy shipments to the country remain on schedule despite the volatile regional situation.

The development came as Mohammad Fathali, Iran’s Ambassador to India, assured that Tehran would ensure safe passage for vessels heading to India through the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking about the tanker movement, Fathali highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two nations. He said that Iran remains committed to facilitating safe maritime transit for Indian-bound vessels, citing the strong relationship and shared interests between the two countries.
“India and Iran are friends. We have common interests and a shared fate,” the ambassador said, expressing confidence that ships bound for India would continue to pass through the Strait without disruption.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil and gas shipping routes, handling a significant portion of global energy supplies. Any disruption in the narrow passage often raises concerns about international energy markets and regional security.
