Mahindra Thar Stranded on Dimapur Railway Tracks, 65-Yr-Old Driver Detained After Viral Video

Dimapur police averted a potentially dangerous situation late on the night of December 16 after a car illegally entered railway tracks near Dimapur Railway Station in Nagaland. The incident gained widespread attention after videos showing the vehicle stuck on the tracks went viral on social media.

Officials said the incident occurred at around 11.35 pm when a Mahindra Thar bearing registration number NL-01/CA-8181 strayed onto the railway line approaching the station platform from the MXN side. Acting promptly, police and railway authorities worked together to safely remove the vehicle, ensuring there was no harm to passengers or damage to railway infrastructure.

Preliminary findings point to gross negligence and a clear breach of traffic and railway safety regulations. Both the vehicle and the driver were taken into custody, and a case was registered at the RPF Dimapur. The driver has been identified as 65-year-old Thepfuneituo, a resident of Signal Angami in Dimapur district. Authorities are probing how the vehicle ended up on the tracks.
