Nitish Kumar Announces ₹2 Lakh Top-Up Under Mahila Rojgar Yojana

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday announced a top-up of up to ₹2 lakh for beneficiaries of the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, aimed at promoting women-led self-employment. Under the scheme, one eligible woman per family currently receives ₹10,000 to start a livelihood initiative. Kumar said the additional assistance will be released in phases after assessing the performance of beneficiaries six months after they begin their ventures. The funds will be provided only if the initial amount has been properly utilised. If the enterprise performs well, a lump-sum payment may also be sanctioned. The scheme is linked to government programmes such as Didi Ki Rasoi and Sudha sales centres. So far, 1.56 crore women have received the initial aid through DBT.
