Rahul Gandhi says he won’t back down from farmers’ fight despite FIR threat

Rahul Gandhi on Thursday asserted that he would continue fighting for farmers’ rights, even if an FIR is lodged, a case is filed, or a Privilege motion is brought against him. In a post on X, he declared that no legal or parliamentary pressure would deter him from standing with “annadata”. Gandhi also cautioned against trade deals that could harm farmers’ livelihoods or weaken national food security, calling such agreements anti-farmer. He accused the Modi government of attempting to compromise farmers’ interests. His remarks came after Union Minister Kiren Rijiju indicated that a privilege motion notice would be moved against him for allegedly misleading the House. However, sources later said the Centre decided not to proceed with the motion, preferring discussion over formal action.
