Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi indicated his willingness to take on the role of Prime Minister, saying he was ready to shoulder the responsibility “for the sake of the country.” The remarks came during the valedictory session of the District Congress Committee presidents’ training camp in Hyderabad.
The response followed an appeal by A. Revanth Reddy, who urged Gandhi to assume national leadership. Addressing party workers, Reddy said the Congress leader had no personal ambition for the post but should step forward given the current political situation. He emphasised that Gandhi’s family had a long history of public service and that the role should be seen as a duty rather than a desire.
Sources present at the event said Rahul Gandhi smiled and nodded in response, signalling openness to the proposal. He reportedly conveyed readiness to take on the political challenge posed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
