Three Indian nationals lost their lives, one was injured, and five others were rescued after a boat carrying 14 crew members capsized off the coast of Beira, Mozambique, on Saturday, the Indian High Commission confirmed.
The launch boat, which was ferrying crew members to the tanker Sea Quest, overturned during a transfer operation near Beira port. The vessel, managed by Scorpio Marine Management (India), had several Indian nationals on board.

The Indian Mission extended condolences to the families of the deceased and said it was coordinating with local authorities to trace the remaining five missing Indians. A consular officer from the High Commission met one of the survivors at a Beira hospital.
Among those missing are two men from Kerala — Indrajith (22) of Edakkattuvayal in Ernakulam, and Sreerag Radhakrishnan (35) of Thevalakkara in Kollam. Both had departed Kerala on October 14 to join the ship. One more person from Kerala was reportedly rescued.
Indrajith, a mechanical engineer, joined Scorpio Marine a year ago. His father Santhosh also works with the same firm, while his younger brother Abhijith is preparing to join its Qatar office.
Sreerag, an electro-technical officer with six years of experience, had been home for six months before returning to work. His family remains anxious as rescue operations, delayed due to adverse weather, are set to resume with a larger vessel.
