100 days strike at Education Dept ends

PANJIM: Balkrisna Busa who has been on hunger strike outside the office of the Directorate of Education in Porvorim for the last 100 days suspended the strike following no response from the authorities

PANJIM: Balkrisna Busa who has been on hunger strike outside the office of the Directorate of Education in Porvorim for the last 100 days suspended the strike following no response from the authorities. For the last four days he was sitting at Panjim’s Azad Maidan after the Collector issued him a notice to vacate from the Education Department.
Busa alleged a conspiracy between Education Department, the government and police as the reason why justice has been denied to his school-going children.
“I have sent petitions to everyone, right from State authorities including Chief Minister, concerned secretaries, to the Prime Minister of India but unfortunately my voice has not been heard,” Busa said while ending the hunger strike on Friday.
He said that the sustenance and future of his two daughters forced him to suspend the strike after 100 days. “I won’t quit the fight, further course of action will be decided,” he said.
Busa was demanding the removal of a headmistress who was charged for harassing school children. The headmistress has been discharged by Goa Children’s Court for lack of evidence in the case.
