100 health workers to get first shot of COVID-19 vaccine today

PANJIM: One hundred healthcare workers in Goa will be given COVID-19 vaccine shots on Saturday as the nationwide launch of the vaccine takes place. Goa has received 23,500 doses of the COVID vaccine under the programme.

Seven session sites in Goa will participate on the launch day wherein 100 health care workers will be vaccinated at government hospitals – Goa Medical College, Bambolim, North Goa District Hospital Mapusa, Hospicio Hospital, Margao, Sub District Hospital, Ponda, Sub District Hospital Chicalim and in two private Hospitals – Manipal Hospital, Dona Paula and Health way Hospital Old Goa.

Covishield and Covaxin, the two vaccines which have received Emergency Use Authorisation (EAU) have been tested on thousands of people and side-effects are negligible, NITI Aayog member (health) Dr VK Paul said.
