The event was specially organized to cater to the village belt. There was tremendous response from village enthusiasts in purchasing their favourite Maruti. The event was a great success with 12 spot bookings and 50 enquiries in two days.
Girl rescued from prostitution
CALANGUTE: Calangute police arrested a woman in connection with a prostitution racket and rescued the victim girl at Gaurawaddo-Calangute on Friday night.
Acting on information, Calangute police nabbed the accused, Nazma Maniyar of Baina-Vasco, who allegedly wanted to supply the victim girl to a prospective customer for prostitution.
The victim girl was rescued and sent to the State Protective Home at Merces. Police arrested the accused under Section 4, 5 & 7 of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act and PI Nolasco Raposo is investigating the case.
Garbage awareness programme
PANJIM: Lions Club of Chinchinim in association with the Panchayat of Chinchinim-Deussua is organizing a garbage awareness programme to segregate plastic at sources.
Reusable bags will be distributed with seeds to promote cultivation of greenery and kitchen gardening.
Minister for Forest and Environment, Alina Saldanha, will be the chief guest. MLA Banjamin Silva will be the guest of honour. The programme will be held on March 17, at 10:30 am at the Chinchinim Church Hall.
FindAll Goa booklet released
PANJIM: Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar released the new Map of Goa, published by FinDoll Publications, at the Minister’s chambers at the Secretariat-Porvorim.
This first-of-its-kind map is multi-coloured, pocket-sized, consists of 44 pages and contains 25 comprehensive city and beach maps, a State map along with an essential tourist guide to Goa.
Speaking on the occasion, the publisher Michael Lobo thanked Mr Paruleker for his time and encouragement. He also thanked the Tourism Department for its continued assistance and assured his company’s co-operation in promoting tourism in Goa.
The Minister praised Tomoko Lobo (Managing and Art Director – FinDoll Publications) and the entire FinDoll team for the excellent work and untiring effort in the field of tourism. He assured the department’s full support in FinDoll Publication projects / ventures that promote Goan tourism.
Restricted water supply to Ponda
PANJIM: Due to a leakage at the pumping mains at Opa Water Treatment Plant, there will be restricted water supply to the consumers of Ponda and parts of Tiswadi including all industrial establishments on March 17.
Seminar at Bicholim
MAYEM: Gosuraksha Abhiyaan, Bicholim unit, will organise a seminar at Hirabai Zantye Memorial hall, Bicholim, on March 17 at 10 am.
Bhagwatacharya Sri Sriram Maharaj Joshi Nagpur will be the chief guest, while Director of Swadeshi Gaumandir Dr Dattatraya Kulkarni will be the chief orator.
Leaders of all religious associations and Swamiji Sri Srivardhan Maharaj of Srikshetra Gurupith Sunderpeth Bicholim, attached to Padmanabh Shishya Sampradaya Srikshetra Kundaim, will attend. Topics like illegal slaughtering of cattle, framing of a new act to punish persons involved in cattle slaughter and other issues will be discussed.
ICCR cultural programme at Ponda
PONDA: As part of its horizon series programme, the Indian Council of Cultural Relations in association with JCI Ponda and Antruz Patrakar Sangh will organise a cultural programme at A J De Almeida School hall, Ponda, on March 17.
There will be a classical Odissi dance performance by Raminder Khurana, an international artiste and Natyasangit by Nitin Dhavlikar and group. The programme will start at 4:30 pm and entry is free.
“Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), under the Ministry of External Affairs, is promoting art and culture and has been organising cultural events to provide platform to Indian artistes in India as well as outside India,” said Rajan Satardekar, Regional Director, ICCR Goa, while addressing media at Ponda. Event coordinator Ajay Buva and Antruz Patrakar Sangh President Pramod Thakur were also present.
