Anjuna police on Saturday arrested a man from Anjuna on charges of cheating and forgery.
According to Anjuna Police, three persons, Sarjie S (Russian), Gurudas Govekar (Anjuna) and Alexandr M (Russian) came together to form a real estate company under name ‘Cosmic Resorts Pvt Ltd’ in 2004 and it was subsequently registered under the Companies Act.
Thereafter, Sarjie left for Russia while Govekar and Alexandra managed the business in Goa.
However in 2008, Anastatiya Tripeka replaced Sarjie S as director of the company and when Sarjie tried to call the other two directors to enquire about the business in the State, they did not respond to his calls.
Accordingly, Sarjie deputed Anna Rojavskaya (Russian) to Goa with his Power of Attorney, where it was learnt that Sarjie had allegedly resigned as the director of the company and the other directors had allegedly misappropriated an amount of Rs 1.64 crore from the company’s account with a private bank in Mapusa. The balance of the company account now stands at Rs 5,898.
After investigations, Anna Rojavskaya lodged a complaint at the Anjuna police station, claiming that Sarjie’s signature had been forged on the alleged resignation and misappropriation of funds.
Anjuna Police arrested Govekar, while the others are absconding. Further investigations are in progress.
