PANJIM: There was slight relief, but for the second consecutive day, Goa reported above 30 deaths and for the last three days in a row, the State has recorded over 2,000 cases in a single day.
On Tuesday, Goa reported 31 deaths and 2,110 new cases. The total number of active cases has reached 16,591.
Over the last 10 days, the State has seen 214 people succumb to COVID-19 while a total of 15,647 people got infected in that same period.
On Tuesday, 5548 samples were tested and the positivity rate jumped to 38.30 per cent. In all 1414 people were placed under home isolation while 210 new patients were hospitalised.
The recovery rate has dropped to 78.42 per cent, while 747 persons recovered in the last 24 hours.
As per the mortality bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), of the 31 COVID-19 deaths reported on Tuesday, there were five deaths at South Goa District Hospital, 23 at Goa Medical College and Hospital, 1 at ESI COVID Hospital in Margao, 1 at a private hospital in North Goa and 1 at a private hospital in South Goa.
The youngest to succumb to COVID on Tuesday was a 38-year-old male from Bicholim. There were two other people under 45 who succumbed while the remaining 28 persons were above 45. The oldest to succumb was a 91-year-old man from Canacona.
