The Directorate of Health Services on Saturday confirmed four positive swine flu cases. All four patients have been admitted in the Isolation Ward of Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.
Sources said the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, New Delhi, had telephonically confirmed to DHS that four of the swab samples had tested positive for swine flu.
Three out of the four patients are members of one family who arrived from Hong Kong on August 1, they stated. The fourth confirmed case is a male who had arrived from Dubai.
The sources further said these patients have been receiving treatment from the day they were suspected to be having the flu. They will be kept under observation for another two days and given treatment at the Isolation Ward. They are in good health, they added.
The State Epidemiological Cell on Thursday had sent the eight throat swab samples to NICD. Today also some five swab samples were sent to NICD for testing, the sources informed.
Meanwhile, sources said DHS had started intimating tour operators to take necessary action and report any suspected case. We are in the process of issuing guidelines to different agencies. By next week bus stands will see flex boards showcasing preventive measures, they said.
