CANACONA: The Matoli for Lord Ganesh contains an assortment of fruits and vegetables, but a staggering 411 varieties of fruits and vegetables adorn the Matoli in the residence of Rupesh Paiginkar of Welwada-Poinguinim.
“This year, the Matoli presentation of 411 items is in the form of ‘Om’,” informed Paiginkar, the last year’s state-level winner of the Matoli contest.
The entire room housing the Ganesh idol is filled to its capacity with a collection of fruits and vegetables, with gunny bags as support to hold them.
“Right from my childhood, I have been collecting various wild fruits. But in 2006, I collected various wild fruits and arranged them professionally for a contest in South Goa. I won the first place in South Goa, besides three other awards,” he informed.
