Six persons were rescued from drowning by Dhristi Surf Life team in the coastal belt of Calangute.
Kumar Atmaram Malsure (18) and Raj (22), both from Bangalore, were saved from drowning by Drishti Surf lifeguards Vithal Chorlekar and Gauresh Kalangutkar off Baga coast.
According to Dhristi reports, Malsure, who was swimming in a ‘no-swim zone’, was pulled by rip current when he shouted for help. Hearing Malsure crying for help, Raj swam across to help him, but he too was caught in the rip current and called for help.
Lifeguards Chorlekar and Kalangutkar immediately rushed to their rescue and brought them safely to the shores.
In the second incident reported at Baga, one Ashok (36) from Karnataka was saved from drowning and brought to shores safely by lifeguard Vithal Chorlekar.
Mohammad Salim (25) and Ganpat Monohar Salkar (30), both from New Mumbai, were saved from drowning by lifeguards Krishna Halankar, Vithal Chorlekar, Sagar Gaonkar, Gauresh Kalangutekar and Sagar Gaonkar with the help Jet Ski and rescue board also off Baga coast. In another incident at Calangute beach, Milton Abranches (17) from Sangolda was saved by SLSG lifeguards Nagesh Dholye and Krishna Halankar.
According to Dhristi reports, Abranches had panicked while swimming and called for help which was promptly provided by the Dhristi Surf Life Saving team.
