Goa MLA Deviya Rane has stated that nearly 61 per cent of Goa’s total geographical area is under forest cover, highlighting the state’s significant green landscape.
Speaking on the matter, Rane said that around 9 crore square metres of private forest land were officially notified in 2025 by the Forest Department in coordination with the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department.
The notification of private forest areas was carried out as part of efforts to identify and protect ecologically sensitive zones in the state. According to Rane, the move aims to ensure proper regulation and conservation of forest resources while maintaining ecological balance.
The announcement comes amid ongoing discussions on land use, development, and environmental protection in Goa.
