VASCO: Verna police have registered a case against seven persons for their alleged involvement in the fraudulent sale of a property at Mardol-Verna amounting to crores of rupees.
According to Verna Police, Belmira Quadros of Loutulim lodged a complaint against her brother-in-law, Nevil Quadros, and others, stating that her husband had given the power of attorney of their property of about 2.5 lakh sq mtrs to Nevil, only for the purpose of legal matters.
Police said Nevil was accused of forging the documents of the property with the help of a resident from Merces and registering the property at the Margao Sub-Registrar’s office.
The land was later sold to five members of a family from Mardol-Verna.
Belmira further claimed that she was threatened with dire consequences if she stepped into the property, which was in the process of being sub-divided into plots for re-sale.
