7 unnatural deaths reported on Sunday

The state witnessed a large number of unnatural deaths (as many as seven) on Sunday, which coincidentally was the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi when the Lord’s idols were immersed at most parts of Goa.
In Panjim, two male bodies were found abandoned at KTC bus stand, one of whom has been identified as Gurudas Kamat (80) of Hubli, Karnataka whereas the other body is still unidentified and unclaimed.
Similarly, dead body of a Karwar native Vasu Hige (45) was found lying at the banks of Mandovi River, a case registered at Porvorim police station.
Whilst, death of a middle-aged widower Shantabai Naik of Nadora was reported a Mapusa police station after she allegedly jumped off Chapora River. Another woman Rukmini Jadhav (50) died of snake bite at Bicholim Primary Health Centre, which yet again has been registered as unnatural death with the said local police station.
Moving down to South Goa, the Mormugao police located body of one Sillapa Harijan (38) hanging from a tree at jetty bus stop. The deceased is said to be an outsider whose body has been preserved in the hospital.
Finally, the youngest unnatural death was reported at Verna wherein a three-year-old girl identified as Roshni Khan died of suffocation after falling into a pond at Alto Dabolim. The case is registered at Verna police station.
