72-year-old man dies in Vasco mishap

Vasco: A 72-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a car in Shantinagar, Vasco, on Monday. According to Vasco Police, the incident occurred when Brindaban Garai, a resident of Varunapuri, Vasco, was attempting to cross the four-lane highway near K V II School in Shantinagar. He was hit by a speeding Skoda Rapid car driven by Somnath Korgaonkar (39), a resident of Alto-Dabolim, who was proceeding towards Vasco from the airport. Korgaonkar immediately took Garai to Chicalim Cottage Hospital; Garai was later shifted to GMC, Bambolim, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have registered offences against Korgaonkar and are further investigating the case.
