PANJIM: A jubilant Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) marked its victory in the Chandigarh municipal polls in Goa on Tuesday.
The party celebrated he win at its office in Panjim and later the members visited the Mahalaxmi Temple in the city to seek blessings.

In Chandigarh, Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party won 14 of 35 seats in the Municipal elections in what was considered to be the stronghold of the BJP. It is clear that the people of Chandigarh know that AAP is the only option to defeat the saffron party.
Before the Punjab elections, Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP has made a splendid outing in Chandigarh, winning most seats in the municipal elections and pushing the BJP to second place, the party said in a press release.
Arvind Kejriwal said, “The Chandigarh result signals a change in Punjab, which is voting for a new government next year.”
AAP won 14 out of 35 municipal seats, while BJP is trailing by 12 seats. The Congress won eight seats and the Akali Dal retained one seat. Elections were held on Friday in Chandigarh. The party is currently campaigning aggressively for the Punjab elections
In the last elections, the BJP had won 20 seats (77 per cent of the seats) and its then ally Akali Dal had won one seat. The Congress had won four seats.
Traditionally, in the Chandigarh elections held every five years, there is direct competition between the BJP and the Congress. That has changed with the entry of ‘AAP’. With the Punjab elections just weeks away, it is clear that the people of Punjab look at AAP as the Alternative to beat the BJP, AAP stated in the release.
“Just like Chandigarh, in Goa too AAP is the only alternative to the BJP. AAP will fight the BJP on its own strength and the love of Goenkars,” said AAP Goa convenor Rahul Mhambre.
“Goans know that they can trust AAP to defeat the BJP,” Mhambre added.
