PANJIM: The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) has sought documents from a local activist in connection with his complaint of an alleged land scam by Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Rajendra Arlekar, as it launched a preliminary inquiry on Thursday.
Advocate Aires Rodrigues on Wednesday lodged a complaint alleging that Goa Speaker had purchased 500 sq mtrs plot at Porvorim for Rs 72 lakh, which was clearly disproportionate to his last known source of income.
ACB sleuths have sought documentary evidence from the complainant to support his allegations.
The activist has given the ACB a copy of the sale deed of August 26, 2013 wherein Arlekar had purchased the plot from a Delhi based journalist Dharmanand Pandurang Kamat, and the latter’s source of income for 2010-11 financial year.
